For nearly three decades, 5335 Penn Ave was home to BFG Café—a beloved neighborhood restaurant serving the communities. Founded by John, who poured his heart into creating a welcoming, casual eatery, BFG Café became a staple known for its great food at affordable prices. 

Whether you knew it as "Bloomfield, Friendship, Garfield" or by John’s own playful take, "Big Fat Greek," the café held a special place in the hearts of many.

After BFG Café closed in late 2023, the building changed ownership in mid-2024. The new owner, a former resident of the neighborhood (200 block of S. Evaline & S. Pacific) and a frequent BFG diner, has a vision to revitalize the space while honoring its legacy.
